28 students represented Newman at the annual Oklahoma Catholic College Student Conference this past weekend, February 14-16. Students from colleges and universities all over the state congregated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Camp, outside Oklahoma City, for three days of prayer, talks, small group study, fellowship, food, and fun.
Keynote speaker Dr. Peter Kreeft spoke on the problem of evil and answering atheism in his presentation, while special guest Chris Stefanick spoke throughout the weekend on reengaging our generation. FOCUS missionaries from TU, OU, and OSU led breakout sessions based on the talks and taught Lectio Divina to the students. Students took full advantage of the mid-60s weather to hike and explore the camp during their afternoon free time and to stargaze on Saturday evening. Newman students also participated in Mass on Saturday with Archbishop Paul Coakley and provided the music for Sunday Mass with Bishop Edward Slattery.
